Carlos Carrillo, part of Castillo’s legal team, remarked that the allegations lack merit and are designed to hinder the professional paths of both the young attorney and her associate. He highlighted that hidden financial motives are driving these assaults, with the intention of benefiting from Castillo’s tarnished reputation.
The defense highlighted that this isn’t the first occurrence of media harassment faced by the attorney. They recalled a comparable episode from 2021, when a Panamanian outlet circulated false information about an alleged arrest of Castillo, information that was later retracted.
Misleading narratives and violation of confidentiality
The legal team contended that both the recent accusations and those from 2021 are based on “partial truths,” distorted to damage the professional workings of attorney Odila Castillo. Additionally, they claimed that the information revealed breaches confidentiality protocols, as some aspects of the investigation stem from a previously resolved family issue.
Confidential information, such as immigration records and tax filings, was also revealed—data that, as per the defense, was acquired through illegal means.

The defense revealed that Castillo has been the target of GPS tracking, which constitutes a blatant invasion of her privacy and a type of illegal surveillance.
