Toronto is proud to be the latest host of O’Reilly Media’s international Ignite series. O’Reilly has been instrumental in spreading the knowledge of innovators through its books, magazines and conferences and Ignite is no different. Ignite is the brainchild of Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Brady is a technologist for O’Reilly Media, and Bre Pettis, who was at Make Magazine at the time, currently works at Etsy and is the founder of Maker Bot and NYC Resistor.
The Toronto chapter of Ignite is organized by Peter Horvath and Michele Perras. Peter is at Make Magazine and Michele at the Mobile Experience Innovation Centre.
The Ignite motto is, enlighten us but make it quick. It captures the best of geek culture in a series of five-minute speed presentations on a diverse range on topics. Imagine that you’re on stage in front of an audience of hundreds of people, doing a five minute presentation using a slide deck that auto-forwards every 15 seconds, whether you’re ready or not. What would you do? What would you say? Could you stand the pressure? We’re ready to see what Toronto has to say.
